Title proposal
If you as an author are interested in performing a Cochrane review, the first step is to submit an expression of interest. The submission process is described in Editorial Process. Make sure your proposal does not duplicate any work already published or registered with Cochrane by searching The Cochrane Library for any published protocols or reviews related to your topic of interest. If you believe that your proposed title will not overlap with any registered or published Cochrane review title, then please follow the steps below.
We receive a great number of title applications. Our resources are limited, and we cannot accept all title applications. We therefore must prioritize which titles to register.
Please note that you need to confirm that there are at least two randomised trials in your topic area; only rarely will the Cochrane Colorectal Group register empty reviews.
The review team must include at least two authors (preferably three) to enable independent study screening and data extraction. We ask that each review team has access to independent statistical help and that at least one of the authors is experienced in either writing systematic reviews or performing randomized controlled trials. Please also note that we require that at least one author is proficient in written English since English is the common language within the Cochrane Collaboration. This person should be responsible for writing the protocol and the review.
Please be aware that authors should only submit one title proposal. They should not submit a second until the first has been published as a complete Cochrane review. This is because you need to complete one review before taking on a second.
We invite authors to undertake reviews on the below topics:
- Hernias (see Hernia Collection)
- Colorectal, anal, and small bowel cancer
- Surgical treatment for inflammatory bowel diseases
- Appendicitis
- Diverticulitis
- Surgical anal diseases
- Benign proctological diseases
- Surgical techniques
- Other areas within general surgery not covered by other review groups
