Cochrane Colorectal Group is planning a Hernia Collection. This will include important, prioritised Cochrane reviews on hernias.
A shortlist of review questions for future Cochrane reviews in the Hernia Collection is under development. A systematic framework consisting of four stages has been undertaken to develop this prioritisation, see Figure below. The four stages include 1) a search for Cochrane protocols and reviews in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2) a review of clinical guidelines by a committee to find clinical domains of interest, 3) a systematic search for randomised trials on hernia and mapping these to the clinical domains, and 4) presenting a longlist of potential Cochrane review questions to a stakeholder panel to prioritise Cochrane review questions for the shortlist.
The systematic framework behind this shortlist will be presented at the Global Evidence Summit 2024. The abstract can be seen below.
Identifying questions for future Cochrane reviews
The author teams have currently not been set. Any authors interested are welcome to contact the Cochrane Colorectal Group at cochranecolorectal@gmail.com.
We furthermore welcome authors to send in a short expression of interest on hernia-related topics that are suited for a Cochrane review through Editorial Manager. Please ensure that the topic does not overlap with existing Cochrane protocols or reviews in the Cochrane Library and that the topic is investigated in randomised controlled trials. If taken forward, authors are invited to submit a title proposal. If accepted, authors are invited to develop the protocol in close collaboration with Cochrane Colorectal Group. Only after the protocol has been peer-reviewed, accepted, and published the conduct of the review can begin. The process is thoroughly described under Title proposal and Editorial process.
